₹4535 Crore rupees for Minority appeasement : Karnataka Budget 2025 Series (Part 10 )

Well the Government of Karnataka has made good looking budget but let’s look at the Untold numbers of Karnataka Government which every Kannadiga should know.

  • Fiscal Deficit (The Gap Between Income & Spending) – BAD
    • 2023-24: ₹66,646 crore (2.6% of GSDP)
    • 2024-25: ₹82,981 crore (3% of GSDP) (A sharp increase of ₹16,335 crore in just one year)
    • Why Bad? Instead of investing in productive sectors, Karnataka is creating debt without proper financial planning, pushing the state into deeper financial instability.
  • Revenue Deficit (When Daily Expenses Exceed Earnings) – BAD
    • 2023-24: ₹12,523 crore
    • 2024-25: ₹27,354 crore (A shocking 118% increase!)
    • Why Bad? The state is borrowing even for routine expenses, which indicates mismanagement and unsustainable financial policies.
  • Massive Losses That Could Have Been Avoided – BAD
    • ₹28,000 crore lost in central grants due to delayed local body elections.
    • ₹1,500 crore lost in a single day during Cauvery protests, plus a ₹4,000 crore impact from statewide strikes.
    • Meanwhile, ₹4,535 crore is allocated to minority welfare, raising questions about priorities.

But what does the government do? It hands out ₹500 crore not to save these schools, but to create exclusive institutions for a selected group.

Where is the concern for the lakhs of Kannada-speaking children struggling to get an education?

Why is ₹100 crore being spent on Urdu schools while Kannada education is being ignored?
Is Kannada not Karnataka’s own language?

Karnataka’s REAL Needs – Where This Money SHOULD Go!

If the government truly cared about Karnataka, this money would be spent on:

1) Building proper roads – instead of pothole-ridden death traps.
2) Providing relief to farmers – instead of letting them die in despair.
3) Improving healthcare – instead of forcing people to beg for medical help.
4) Creating jobs – instead of watching the state’s youth fall into poverty.
5) Reviving Kannada-medium schools – instead of sidelining Karnataka’s culture.

But instead, the government has chosen appeasement over the survival of the state.
