Tragedy on Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ Set – Junior Artist Drowns in Kollur River

In yet another unfortunate incident during the shoot of Kantara: Chapter 1, a tragic mishap has shaken the film unit. A junior artist, Kapil from Kerala, lost his life after drowning in the Souparnika River at Kollur, located in the Byndoor region of Udupi district.

Well, the accident occurred shortly after the shooting had wrapped up for the day. Kapil, along with a few members of the crew, went for a swim in the river. Unaware of the depth, he entered the water and sadly never resurfaced. This heart-wrenching incident took place within the Kollur Police Station limits.

Rishab Shetty, who is directing Kantara: Chapter 1, has already been battling a series of misfortunes surrounding the film. And now, the sudden death of a crew member has added to the list of painful setbacks.

Well, this isn’t the first hurdle the team has encountered. Previously, a bus carrying junior artists met with an accident in Kollur, followed by a powerful storm that destroyed a major film set. These events have only added to the belief among locals that the film is facing supernatural resistance — with some even referring to daiva (divine) warnings.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is being produced under the banner of Hombale Films and is expected to be a massive prequel to the blockbuster Kantara. The film has already created a buzz with high expectations from fans nationwide, especially since it’s being developed as a pan-India project.

Well, the loss of junior artist Kapil has left the film crew in shock and sorrow. More information regarding the incident is awaited, and key members of the production team are expected to release a statement soon.
