Kumbh Mela Brings Big Earnings for Boatman’s Family

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared a success story showing how the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj helped local people earn money.

He said that a boatman’s family, running 130 boats, earned ₹30 crore in just 45 days during the festival, which was held from January 13 to February 26.

This shows how big religious events like the Kumbh Mela create jobs and business opportunities, helping many families and businesses grow.

How Did the Boatmen Earn So Much?

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath explained that each boat made ₹50,000 to ₹52,000 per day during the Maha Kumbh Mela. In 45 days, this added up to ₹23 lakh per boat.

He said this proves that festivals like Kumbh Mela create big earning opportunities for local people, helping them make a good income.

Responding to Criticism

The Samajwadi Party claimed that boatmen were being exploited, but Yogi Adityanath disagreed.

“A family ran 130 boats and made ₹30 crore in profit. How is that exploitation?” he asked.

He also criticized those who questioned the Maha Kumbh Mela, saying only those who attended it could understand its importance. Despite negative comments, the government stayed focused on making the event successful.

Maha Kumbh Mela: A Big Economic Boost

Yogi Adityanath said the Uttar Pradesh government spent ₹7,500 crore to organize the Maha Kumbh Mela, and it generated ₹3 lakh crore in business. The event created earnings in different areas:

  • ₹40,000 crore from hotels
  • ₹33,000 crore from food and essentials
  • ₹1.5 lakh crore from transport
  • ₹20,000 crore from religious offerings
  • ₹660 crore from donations
  • ₹300 crore from toll tax
  • ₹66,000 crore from other sources

Kumbh Mela: A Proud Moment for India

Yogi Adityanath said the Maha Kumbh Mela was not just a religious event but also a symbol of India’s culture and unity. He said the festival gained global recognition and left a lasting impact.

“We believe in Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (Together, for Everyone’s Growth). The success of this event will be remembered for years,” he said.
