New Delhi – Okay, so here’s something important going on in India. After a recent terrorist attack in a place called Pahalgam , the Indian government is getting ready just in case a war happens with Pakistan.
The Indian Home Ministry has said that in 244 districts across the country, special practice sessions called “mock drills” will be done. Basically, it’s like a big practice to teach people what to do if there’s a war-like emergency.
Last time such a drill happened was in 1971, before the big war with Pakistan. So yes, it’s a big deal.
Big Meeting Today
A very important meeting was held today at the Home Ministry’s office in Delhi. All the top officers and district representatives of these 244 areas came together.

People from:
- NDRF (the emergency rescue team),
- Civil Defence,
- Fire Department,
- Air Defence Officers,
- NDMA (disaster management),
- and officers from different states…
…they all sat down to make a full plan.
Why the meeting?
To get fully ready for tomorrow’s big national-level mock drill.
What’s the point of this mock drill?
Well, I think it’s like teaching everyone what to do when things go wrong.
What if there’s a missile attack?
What if there’s an airstrike or rocket strike?
Basically, it means:
- how to run to safety
- how to protect yourself and your family
- how to use sirens and blackouts (lights off) during an emergency
This mock drill is going to teach people all of that.
Focus Areas
These drills will happen mostly in:
- Border districts (places near India’s edge),
- Sensitive areas (places that need extra care and safety).
That means people living in those areas will get to learn things like:
- Where to hide if there’s a danger
- How to use emergency tools
- How to stay calm and help others

What happened in Srinagar today?
Now, let’s talk about Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir. Today morning, they did a boat disaster mock drill.
What if a boat turns upside down?
How do you save yourself?
How do you save others?
Well, that’s what was taught to the people.
A man named Arif Hussain from SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) showed everyone how to use a life jacket, how to swim to safety, and how to rescue others during such emergencies.
He said, “We’re practicing so we know exactly what to do before real danger comes.”
Why this matters?
Well, I think this is how it has to be – because if you look at how things are going on around the borders, it’s always better to be ready.
This isn’t about making people scared.
This is about making people smart, brave, and ready.
Just like we have fire drills in schools… this is a war drill for all of India
