Nithya Shree, a college student from Mysuru, never thought her casual singing moment would turn into something viral. Talking about her sudden popularity, she said, “I just sang the song to make my friends happy. Honestly, I never imagined it would spread like this. I feel really happy seeing the kind of response people are giving.”
She recalled how it all started: “My friends were laughing and enjoying when I sang. Then my teacher, Krishna Murthy Sir, recorded it and put it on Instagram. Overnight, the video took off. Suddenly, people started recognizing me, some even asking for selfies. I’ve always dreamed of becoming an actress. Yash is my favorite actor, and if I ever get lucky, I would love to play even a small role alongside him.”
But as with anything that goes viral, there were mixed reactions. While most praised her, a few online users trolled her. Nithya, however, takes it in her stride: “Yes, some people post negative comments and question why my song even went viral. But 90% of the reactions are positive, so I don’t focus on the negativity. The fact that people laughed and felt joy because of me—that itself is my biggest happiness.”
She also mentioned that her father stands by her dream of entering films. “If I get an opportunity, I will definitely act,” she said with confidence.
Her Journey So Far
Coming from Malekoppa village in K.R. Pete taluk of Mandya district, Nithya now lives in Mysuru for her studies. Thanks to her teacher’s video upload, her simple song turned into an overnight sensation, earning her love and recognition across Karnataka.
